The first thing to get clear about Christian morality between man and man is that in this department Christ did not come to preach any brand new morality. The Golden Rule of the New Testament (Do as you would be done by) is a summing up of what every one, at bottom, had always known to be right. Really great moral teachers never do introduce new moralities: it is quacks and cranks who do that. As Dr. Johnson said, “people need to be reminded more often than then need to be instructed.” The real job of every moral teacher is to keep on bringing us back, time after time, to the old simple principles which we are all so anxious not to see; like bringing a horse back and back to the fence it has refused to jump or bringing a child back and back to the bit in its lesson that it want to shirk.

The second thing to get clear is that Christianity has not, and does not profess to have, a detailed political programme for applying “do as you would be done by” to a particular society at a particular moment. It could not have. It is meant for all men at all times and the particular programme which suited one place or time would not suit another. And, anyhow, that is not how Christianity works. When it tells you to feed the hungry it does not give you lessons in cookery. When it tells you to read the Scriptures it does not give you lessons in Hebrew and Greek, or even in English grammar. It was never intended to replace or supersede the ordinary human arts and sciences: it is rather a director which will set them all to the right jobs, and a source of energy which will give them all new life, if only they will put themselves at its disposal.

People say, “The Church ought to give us a lead. That is true if they mean it in the right way, but false if they mean it in the wrong way. By the Church they ought to mean the whole body of practicing Christians. And when they say that the Christians-those who happen to have the right talents- should be economists and statesmen, and that all economists and statesmen should be Christians, and that their whole efforts in politics and economics should be directed to putting “do as you would be done by” into action. If that happened, and if we others were really ready to take it, then we should find the Christian solution for our own social problems pretty quickly. But, of course, when they ask for a lead from the Church most people mean they want the clergy to put out a political programme. That is silly. The clergy are those particular people within the whole Church who have been specially trained and set aside to look after what concerns us as creatures who are going to live for ever: and we are asking them to do a quite different job for which they have not been trained. The job is really on us, on the laymen. The application of Christian principles, say, to trade unionism or education, must come from Christian trade unionists and Christian schoolmasters: just as Christian literature comes from Christian novelists and dramatists- not from the bench of bishops getting together and trying to write plays and novels in their spare time.

All the same, the New Testament, without going into details, gives us a pretty clear hint of what a fully Christian society would be like. Perhaps it gives us more than we can take. It tells us that there are to be no passengers or parasites: if man does not work, he ought not to eat. Every one is to work with his own hands, and what is more, every one’s work is to produce something good: there will be no manufacture of silly luxuries and then of sillier advertisements to persuade us to buy them. And there is to be no “swank” or “side”, no putting on airs. To that extent a Christian society would be what we now call Leftist. On the other hand, it is always insisting on obedience-obedience (and outward marks of respect) from all of us to properly appointed magistrates, from children to parents, and (I am afraid this is going to be very unpopular) from wives to husbands. Thirdly, it is to be a cheerful society: full of singing and rejoicing, and regarding worry or anxiety as wrong. Courtesy is one of the Christian virtues; and the New Testament hates what it calls “busybodies”.

If there were such a society in existence and you or I visited it, I think we should come away with a curious impression. We should feel that its economic life was very socialistic and, in that sense, “advanced”, but that its family life and its code of manners were rather old fashioned-perhaps even ceremonious and aristocratic. Each of us would like some bits of it, but I am afraid very few of us would like the whole thing. That is just what one would expect if Christianity is the total plan for the human machine. We have all departed from that total plan in different ways, and each of us wants to make out that his own modification of the original plan is the plan itself. You will find this again and again about anything that is really Christian: every one is attracted by bits of it and wants to pick out those bits and leave the rest. That is why we do not get much further: and that is why people who are fighting for quite the opposite things can both say they are fighting for Christianity.

Now another point. There is one bit of advice given to us by the ancient heathen Greeks, and by the Jews in the Old Testament, and by the great Christian teachers of the Middle Ages, which the modern economic system has completely disobeyed. All these people told us not to lend money at interest; and lending money at interest- what we call investment- is the basis of our whole system. Now it may not absolutely follow that we are wrong. Some people say that when Moses and Aristotle and the Christians agreed in forbidding interest (or “usury” as they called it), they could not foresee the joint stock lender, and that, therefore, we need not bother about what they said. That is a question I cannot decide on. I am not an economist and I simply do not know whether the investment system is responsible for the state we are in or not. This is where we want the Christian economist. But I should not have been honest if I had not told you that three great civilizations had agreed (or so it seems at first sight) in condemning the very thing on which we have based our whole life.

One more point and I am done. In the passage where the New Testament says that every one must work, it gives as a reason “in order that he may have something to give to those in need”. Charity- giving to the poor- is an essential part of Christian morality: in the frightening parable of the sheep and the goats it seems to be the point on which everything turns. Some people nowadays say that charity out to be unnecessary and that instead of giving to the poor we ought to be producing a society in which there were no poor to give to. They may be quite right in saying that we ought to produce this kind of society. But if anyone thinks that, as a consequence, you can stop giving in the meantime, then he has parted company with all Christian morality. I do not believe on can settle how much we ought to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than we can spare. In other words, if our expenditure on comforts, luxuries, amusements, etc., is up to the standard common among those with the same income as our own, we are probably giving away too little. If our charities do not at all pinch or hamper us, I should say they are too small. There ought to be things we should like to do and cannot do because our charities expenditure excludes them. I am speaking now of “charities in the common way. Particular cases of distress among your own relatives, friends, neighbours or employees, which God, as it were, forces upon your notice, may demand much more: even to the crippling and endangering of your own position. For many of us the great obstacle to charity lies not in our luxurious living or desire for more money, but in our fear- fear of insecurity. This must often be recognized as a temptation. Sometimes our pride also hinders our charity; we are tempted to spend more than we ought on the showy forms of generosity (tipping, hospitality) and less than we ought on those who really need our help.

And now, before I end, I am going to venture on a guess as to how this section has affected any who have read it. My guess is that there are some Leftist people among them who are very angry that it has not gone further in that direction, and some people of an opposite sort who are angry because they think it has gone much too far. If so, that brings us right up against the real snag in all this drawing up of blueprints for a Christian society. Most of us are not really approaching the subject in order to find out what Christianity says: we are approaching it in the hope of finding support from Christianity for the views of our own party. We are looking for an ally where we are offered either a Master or- a Judge. I am just the same. There are bits in this section that I wanted to leave out. And that is why nothing whatever is going to come of such talks unless we go a much longer way round. A Christian society is not going to arrive until most of us really want it: and we are not going to want it until we become fully Christian. I may repeat “do as you would be done by” till I am black in the face, but I cannot really carry it out till I love my neighbour as myself: and I cannot learn to love my neighbour as myself till I learn to love God: and I cannot learn to love God except by learning to obey Him. And so, as I warned you, we are driven on to something more inward- driven on from social matters to religious matters. For the longest way round is the shortest way home.

I heard Pete Greig talk about a week ago and it moved my spirit in a new way... I began reading the book Red Moon Rising as it had been sitting on my table for about 6 months and I read this poem The Vision and it has impacted my life substantially. Check it out! so this guy comes up to me and says:
“what’s the vision? What’s the big idea?”
I open my mouth and words come out like this:

The vision?

The vision is JESUS – obsessively, dangerously, undeniably Jesus.

The vision is an army of young people.

You see bones? I see an army.

And they are FREE from materialism.

They laugh at 9-5 little prisons.

They could eat caviar on Monday and crusts on Tuesday.

They wouldn’t even notice.

They know the meaning of the Matrix, the way the west was won.

They are mobile like the wind, they belong to the nations.

They need no passport.

People write their addresses in pencil and wonder at their strange existence.

They are free yet they are slaves of the hurting and dirty and dying.

What is the vision ?

The vision is holiness that hurts the eyes.

On the outside? They hardly care.

They wear clothes like costumes to communicate and celebrate but never to hide.

Would they surrender their image or their popularity?

They would lay down their very lives - swap seats with the man on death row - guilty as hell. A throne for an electric chair.

With blood and sweat and many tears, with sleepless nights and fruitless days,

they pray as if it all depends on God and live as if it all depends on them.

Their DNA chooses JESUS. (He breathes out, they breathe in.)

Their subconscious sings. They had a blood transfusion with Jesus.

Their words make demons scream in shopping centres.

Don’t you hear them coming?

Herald the weirdo’s! Summon the losers and the freaks.

Here come the frightened and forgotten with fire in their eyes.

They walk tall and trees applaud, skyscrapers bow, mountains are dwarfed by these children of another dimension.

Their prayers summon the hounds of heaven and invoke the ancient dream of Eden.

And this vision will be.

It will come to pass;

it will come easily;

it will come soon.

How do I know?

Because this is the longing of creation itself,

the groaning of the Spirit,

the very dream of God.

My tomorrow is his today.

My distant hope is his 3D.

And my feeble, whispered, faithless prayer invokes a thunderous, resounding, bone-shaking great ‘Amen!’ from countless angels, from hero’s of the faith, from Christ himself. And he is the original dreamer, the ultimate winner.

"Taken" Sex Trafficking in our Midst

This past Friday night I went to see a movie called Taken that came out on Jan. 30th and has Liam Neeson. The Movie is based around two young girls who go on a vacation to Paris and end up getting abducted and sold into sex trafficking. This movie is very real and action packed while showing the full extent of modern day sex slavery that is rapidly growing in our world. I Highly recommend anyone and everyone to see this movie, it is very moving and informing. The movie is rated pg-13.

Trafficking in women and girls is the second or third most profitable industry used by organized crime after drugs and guns. The United Nations estimates that as many as 4 million women and children are trafficked around the world for purposes of forced prostitution, labor and other forms of exploitation every year, meaning every thirty seconds or 2,500 per day another person becomes a victim. The UNICEF reports that across the world, there are over one million children entering the sex trade every year and that approximately 30 million children have lost their childhood through sexual exploitation over the past 30 years. There are currently 27-30 million individuals in slavery today, 70-75 percent of who are sex slaves.

Please be praying for the ending of sex trafficking and the hope of Jesus to go forth...

Branch of Planned Parenthood to shut in Colorado Springs

Today I found out that the Planned Parenthood in south Colorado Springs is closing down on March 31st!!! Praise the Lord, we recently started a daily one hour prayer vigil(silent siege - www.bound4life.com/the-silent-siege) at planned parenthood on 1331 Colorado Ave. We started the day of this years roe Vs wade anniversary, January 22. What an answer to prayer... Continue to pray and stand in the gap for the unborn.

The closure comes after major renovations at the Mission Trace Shopping Center the organization thought would be too disruptive, said Planned Parenthood Field Manager Katie Groke Ellis. Meet Lia a 12 Year old Voice

Lia, a 12-year-old seventh grader that recently decided to make a courageous stand in her school by giving a persuasive speech on the topic of abortion. Even when her teachers strongly encouraged her to choose a different topic, she decided to stick with what she felt passionate about. An email from her mother describes what led Lia to make such a bold move.

It was really a family thing. I saw Lou [Engle] speak at a conference several years ago. I came back to my family with the Life Bands, and we all wore them, made our covenant, and prayed the prayer for abortion to end… We were invited to participate in a “Life Tape Siege”. Once my kids heard of this invitation, they all agreed: “We have to do that!” Since then, Lia’s passion for seeing abortion end has continued. Being impacted by Lou’s words regarding Horton [Hears a Who], she was excited to watch the movie when it was released (and the rest of the family were too!).

In the email, her mother goes on to describe the challenges and consequences Lia faced.

As part of her class requirements, she needed to prepare a speech; however, the classroom presentations were also meant to enable the teacher to select the best speeches to go on to a more serious competition. As I mentioned, several teachers discouraged her from picking the topic of abortion; she was told it was “too big”, “too mature” and “too controversial”. She was also told that if she went ahead with that topic, she would not be allowed to continue on in the speech competition. Initially, I tried helping her find other topics to speak on, but, in the end, she was adamant. She just felt she wanted to continue with the topic of abortion. So she forfeited her chance to compete in order to speak on something she was passionate about.

This is an amazing story.... please continue to pray for the raising up of young ones who will be a voice even in the face of opposition.

Two or More.... An Unbearable Burden to the Environment???

Today I read an interesting article in the London Times that linked contraceptives and abortion to the issue of global warming. Jonathon Porrit was the chairman of the UK Ecology Party (now the Green Party) from 1978 to 1984 and chairs the government’s Sustainable Development Commission currently in the UK.

This is what Jonathon Porrit has just recently proposed a very inhuman idea about the amount of children we should have and its effect on global warming. He starts of by stating that children are an unbearable burden on the environment....

"Couples who have more than two children are being “irresponsible” by creating an unbearable burden on the environment" -- Jonathon Porritt, London Times, 02/01/09

and he doesn't stop there.... he goes on to say that the solution to global warming is to increase contaception and abortion use.

"curbing population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming. He says political leaders and green campaigners should stop dodging the issue of environmental harm caused by an expanding population. " -- Jonathon Porritt, London Times 02/01/09

This is just appalling and absolutely inhumane... but Jonathon doesn't stop there, here is the so called importance he thinks needs to come.

London 08 Recap

On November 17th, four of us headed off for London, England for a missions trip. With some money, a place to stay, and a glimpse of a schedule. The first few days we got over some jet lag and just checked out the city, went to the London Eye, sat in at the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the London Bridge, and many others. I met with a couple of pastors and got to meet some awesome people. Albert Wood was our main contact and let me just say this is one awesome man of God. He had a schedule of ministry opportunities lined up for us and was a great help in getting around town.

The trip was very different than I had visioned in my little brain but it was great. We joined with churches and youth groups for prayer meetings and preached the Word. On Saturday the 22nd we held a silent siege at the Houses of Parliament and about 30 people showed up. I was so amazed though; a group of 18 or so came on a bus from almost 4 hours away, another women traveled 7 hours on a bus, and two other guys traveled 3 hours on a bus to come to the siege. It blew my mind that these believers had spent probably about $35-40 and much time on a bus to come and stand in the gap on behalf of the unborn. The dedication and heart of these believers burned in me and gave me such joy to see the sons and daughters arising.

After the Siege we went straight to a church called Joy House London and ministered at a youth conference thing. Afterwards only to find out it was being aired on Faith TV around the world lol. They fed us and sat down with us for some fellowship afterwards and it was a great time. The next morning we attended Hillsong London for Sunday service and then got on a bus to a town called Tamworth to join some believers in prayer. We arrived to the house only to see about 25 people and a TON of food, I thought that they might have called a town meeting or something it was awesome to see so many people gathered. The food was absolutely amazing if I might say so too. We had a great time eating and fellowshipping and then we had a powerful prayer meeting for 3 hours.

We headed back to London the next day and finished off the trip with some meetings, prayer walks, and fun team time(Albert included). The trip was awesome and the Lord did a lot in each of our lives as well as in the heart of the saints in England. Thank You to all who helped, donated, and prayed for us. Blessings

Please Pray for the homosexual communities in San Francisco and the JHOP-SF Team

Below is a couple videos and a letter from the JHOP – San Francisco Team and I wanted to share it with everyone…. My spirit was deeply moved when I read the letter and watched the videos. It brought me to tears and took me to my knees. I want to ask you all to join in contending in the place of prayer for the homosexual communities around the nation and especially in SF as well as praying for the JHOP team in SF. They were simply praying quietly and worshiping God in a district of SF called Castro which they do on a regular basis on Friday nights. They were not being loud, marching, or protesting concerning Proposition 8. They were simply praying...quietly.

While they continued to peacefully worship God, the mob of homosexuals hit them, knocked them down, kicked them, spit on them, urinated on them, threw hot drinks on them, groped them, tried to undress them and threatened to their face, "We will kill you!" I am so proud of the JHOP-SF group who is taking the worship of the King to the deep and dark places of the nation and extremely proud of the way they handled the situation.

We wanted to write you and fill you guys in on what happened to our team here in San Francisco last night. This is what happened from one point of view and gives a pretty good overview of the night.

I went to the Castro (the homosexual district of San Francisco) with JHOPSF (I have been with the Justice House of Prayer San Francisco since April 2008.) like we usually do on Friday nights.
Normally, we sit on 18th and Castro, and someone plays the guitar, and we all worship God. Often times people will be drawn to us, even if only for curiosity of what we're doing, so we get to talk to them, and tell them about the Love of Jesus Christ. On rare occasions, when the Holy Spirit clearly guides one of us (usually a leader), one person will open-air preach for a little bit.

Sometimes a person will yell at us, or maybe a few. Sometimes people will ignore us. Sometimes people will let us pray with them. We get different responses from different people each time, but the Lord always meets us there.

This time was not a normal night. It was the first time we'd been back in the Castro to do our normal outreach since California Proposition 8, which defined marriage as "one man with one woman" was passed. Apparently, previously, someone at a No on 8 rally singled out Promised Land Fellowship (The church that we attend), and specifically the team they send out to the Castro on Friday nights (us) as being affiliated with the Yes on 8 campaign (which is partially true. All the individuals involved with the Castro Outreach were involved with the Yes on 8 campaign, but mostly in prayer. However, the Castro Outreach isn't about Gay marriage, or politics - it's about Jesus Christ.).

We played the guitar and sang together and worshiped the Lord. Nobody preached. Nobody even really talked to anyone except for a little bit near the beginning.

After just singing and worshiping God for a while, Roger decided that we should all hold hands in a circle and continue singing. So we did.

Someone (actually a person who came up and hugged and kissed some of us who he knew from the past and was asking us how we were doing) convinced some people that we were there to protest against the No on 8 campaign.

Then some guy who was dressed up like one of the sisters (The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is a group of men who dress up in drag like nuns and call themselves the spiritual authority of the Castro.) took a curtain-type thing and wrapped it around us.

Then a crowd started gathering. We began to sing "Amazing Grace," and basically sang that song the whole night. (at some points we also sang "Nothing but the Blood of Jesus" and "Oh the Blood of Jesus".)

At first, they just shouted at us, using crude, rude, and foul language and calling us names like "haters" and "bigots." Since it was a long night, I can't even begin to remember all of the things that were shouted and/or chanted at us.

Then, they started throwing hot coffee, some people got it in their faces, soda and alcohol on us and spitting (and maybe even peeing) on us.

Then, a group of guys surrounded us with whistles, and blasted them inches away from our ears continually.

Then, they started getting violent and started shoving us. We just gathered in as tight as we could together and worshiped singing Amazing Grace.

At one point a man tried to steal one of our Bibles. One of the girls noticed, so she walked up to him and said "Hey, that's not yours, can you please give it back?" He responded by hitting her on the head with the Bible, shoving her to the ground, and kicking her. I called the cops, and when they got there, they pulled her out of the circle and asked her if she wanted to press charges. She said "No, tell him I forgive him." Afterwards, she didn't rejoin us in the circle, but she made friends with one of the people in the crowd, and really connected heart to heart.

Our leader got death threats. As the leader of our group, people looked him in the eyes and said "I am going to kill you." and they were serious. A cop heard one of them, and confronted him.

(This part is kinda graphic, so you should skip the paragraph if you don't want to be offended.) It wasn't long before the violence turned to perversion. They were touching and grabbing me, and trying to shove things in my butt, and even trying to take off my pants - basically trying to molest me. I used one hand to hold my pants up, while I used the other arm to hold one of the girls. The guys huddled around all the girls, and protected them.

Soon after, the cops came and stood between us and the mob. When it was getting more heated, the cops were like "You guys should leave" because it was getting harder to protect us. And our leader said "We want to stay." Then they said, "If you want to get out you have to get out now."

Someone tried to steal my backpack, but I tapped a cop on the shoulder and said "Hey, that's my bag." and he got it from him and gave it to me. Others weren't so lucky. Probably half our team got their jackets stolen.

Eventually, as the crowd was getting more and more uncontrollable, the cops were afraid for our lives, so they escorted us to our van. (The cops were very nice to us from start to finish.)
Our van was parked pretty far because it was hard to find parking that day. As the cops escorted us, the mob followed us, until the cops formed a line and held off the people so we could drive away. We took the long way home, just in case anyone tried to follow us.

When we got home, we prayed and sang more, and then prayed over each other.

The whole experience made me love and brought me closer to God and my friends and the people in the Castro as well as the Church in general and the lost.

Please know my heart. All of what we do is for the Love of Jesus Christ, and the love for those in the Castro. The Bible says to love God, and then love people. We can only love because He loved us first. We can't hate the people because they are just broken and blinded by the spirit of this age. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against Principalities and Powers. It's not a political thing, we just love the people. We don't want to convert gays to straight people. We want them to know the Love of Jesus Christ. Even if someone never becomes attracted to the other sex, they can still love Jesus Christ with all their heart, mind, and soul. As the mob raged, all I could pray was "God have mercy." It really is all about God's mercy. He desires mercy over judgment. He desires for all to be saved.

One of the things that I remember them chanting was "Shame on you." One of our girls later pointed out how, in some weird way, it's a privilege for us because we know that Jesus bore all our shame and all our transgressions on the cross. So it's kinda like taking on their shame so we can cast it onto Jesus.

This is the raw footage of the walk from 18th and Castro Street to our car. It was only the very tail end of the night and says that we were all about Prop 8... when in reality we had nothing to do with Prop 8 this night.

A Response to the Elections: Response, Repentance, Regrouping and Relentless..... Bound4Life

To the pro-life remnant in America,

I'm sure this email finds many of you still trying to process and make sense out of last week's election. No doubt there are more questions today than answers. If you're like me, then you've been looking for responses from Christian leaders to help understand where we are today. Please bear with me as I attempt to construct thoughts regarding what has happened and what it means for Bound4LIFE and the pro-life movement.

Response

First of all let me express my sincere gratitude to all those that have followed through with their vows concerning prayer for the ending of abortion, voting for pro-life candidates and obeying God when it comes to compassion and justice. I believe the Life Band represents something larger than any of us realize right now. It helps us align with God's heart and purposes in the earth, and we can never go wrong following this simple path. As always God has moved through a remnant to make his will known.

It has become quite clear that the majority of the American Church has chosen to promote pro-abortion agents and pro-death policies. I believe God is grieved over these choices. It was within our ability to propel life-saving efforts for the unborn and plead the cause of the helpless, but because we have rejected that sacred responsibility I believe judgment will begin with the house of God. I also believe it will cost us dearly. Some will be tempted to dodge their culpability declaring "Well, it happened so it must have been God's will all along." This would be flawed thinking in the extreme. To quote Dutch Sheets, "Too much emphasis on God's sovereignty and we're worthless; too little and we're hopeless."

A rule of thumb that I have embraced is "A casual approach to the prophetic word will produce casualties." In this case, the cry for "change" was greater than the cry for "mercy." We have asked for a king, and a king has been given to us. We will now collectively drink from this cup, and concerning the pre-born children the casualties are quite literal. Today we find ourselves standing knee deep in the blood of 50 million children asking God to bless us and fix our economy. So still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether".

Repentance

The responsibility lies with the Church. We are supposed to lead the way; we are to be the head and not the tail, and we will be forced to live with the consequences of our choices. Please forgive me if this sounds overly harsh. My intent is not to accuse; instead it is for us to accept responsibility. After all the Church is the hope of the world.

Now is the time for God to work repentance in our hearts; deep repentance on behalf of a confused Church and wayward nation. We should all review Daniel 9 as a model for this. May God do a quick work in us and restore us to our proper place. The scripture remains just as true today as it did before the elections, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Ch 7:14)

Regrouping

If I learned anything during this campaign, it was how powerful it can be when a people that feel disenfranchised from government mobilize at the grassroots level around a singular, unwavering message. As we pick ourselves up from this moment and move forward let us not depart from the place of intense prayer and fasting. God has driven us here for a reason, and it must continue. We are all in the School of Prayer now. God is bringing forth a revolutionary prayer movement in the earth, and it is still in its infancy. The Church must learn and embrace that the prayer meeting is the governmental center of the universe. Not only does prayer directly effect change for God's purposes, but we should also expect an explosion of creativity if we will remain focused in the place of prayer.

Creativity for new pro-life strategies
Creativity for public policy
Creativity for unity and mobilization
Creativity for shifting culture through media
Creativity for adoption reform

Our prayer mandate remains the same: "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." (1 Ti 2:1-4)

Relentless

Moral authority is on our side. Abortion and the pro-death culture is heavily entrenched in the American psyche. The blood of the innocent has fueled the demonization of our culture for nearly 36 years. That is no excuse, however, to give up or even slow down now. On the contrary let us double our efforts and continue to face the giant that dares to mock the armies of the living God. Yes, we have lost an important battle. Yes, our efforts have experienced a great setback. Yes, the days ahead will be difficult to say the least. But history reminds us that the light of revelation can dawn on even the most difficult of social evils--slavery. Decade after decade passed while God relentlessly raised up voices for righteousness ultimately aligning the nation to His divine will.

There is good reason to think that without the steady drumbeat of Christian condemnation from the abolitionist preachers, there would never have been sufficient antislavery sentiment--to say nothing of antislavery interest--to enable the nation finally to go to war over the issue. Equally important, there might never have been sufficient antislavery preaching if not for the tireless evangelizing of such abolitionists as Charles Finney and his protégé Theodore Weld, who successfully targeted, among their many audiences, young college students who would, they knew, be the nation's future leaders. From town to town they went...at every stop bringing their message that slavery was contrary to the Gospels. Until, finally, people came to believe it.

President-Elect Barack Obama has stated that "culture wars are just so 90's and their days are growing dark.' Let our posture reflect that we are just beginning and that we will not give up on America and the next generation. We will continue to pray for this President, Congress and Supreme Court and then for those that come after them. Let the government of earth know that God has already installed His King on His holy hill.

The Unity of Prayer and Fasting

“This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” -- Mark 9:29

The Lord has been speaking to me a lot about the power and importance of Prayer and Fasting united as one. In Mark 9:29 we see that it takes the combination of prayer and fasting for the demon to be cast out. The fact that the church has set aside both aspects and has been apathetic in them makes me sick. In Revelation 3 he says to the church; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die. I believe he is relating to our walk and relationship with him. We walk in a way that looks good, but inside we are dead and have no depth in God. Depth in God comes from knowing him and loving him, prayer is our main source of communicating with God and fasting is a way to show our dedication to the Lord. It is in the place of united prayer and fasting that we truly experience depth in God. Again in Revelation 2 the Lord says: “Yet I hold this against you: you have forsaken your first love.” The lack of prayer and fasting explains this idea of “falling away” or “losing one’s first love” because man cares more for his “desire-nature,” than for the fortification of his soul.

When a man or woman is willing to set aside the legitimate appetites of the body to concentrate on the work of praying, they are demonstrating that they are serious, that they are seeking God with all their heart.

The Lord has been and still is communicating the importance of prayer and fasting since before the time of Jesus. We learn in the Old Testament that David prayed and fasted regularly as well as most of the Old Testament people. Elijah prayed for it not to rain for 3 years and it didn’t and then after the 3 years he prayed for rain and it rained. Elijah, Moses, and Jesus all did 40 day fasts as well as Daniel and Paul who fasted and prayed often. In 2 Corinthians Paul says he was in fastings often…

2 At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.

12 Then he continued, "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.

Here in Daniel 10 we see that Daniel fasted for three weeks and then later in the chapter we see that the Lord took notice and sent his angels in response to his prayer and fasting.

When we fast and pray, we should never lose sight of the fact that our fast must be for the glory of God, that Jesus shall continually have all praise, honor, and glory. A continual praise, along with our prayers, should always be in our hearts to obtain the fullest spiritual results. In other words, make it a time of fasting and praise for the glory of God. Jesus, our mediator, is the one who will see that we are richly rewarded. The one who “bought us with his own blood” is certainly worthy of much praise and honor. A praise that continually flows from the heart is like incense that rises to the throne of God.

We recently found out that “Justice Loves Babies” has been listed on the Barnes and Nobles website as well as on Amazon. The funny thing…. We have no idea how it happened. We never sent anything to Barnes and Noble and we don’t know anyone who did. It must just be Jesus; it is his book after all. :)

It was a few months ago when we submitted the book to Focus on the Family for their bookstore evaluation process and began to pray. The Lord gave us favor and they now carry it. Once again the Lord has blessed us with supernaturally placing the book on Barnes and Noble’s website. You can also now go into a Barnes and Noble store and request the book and they will order it for you! Jesus is great and continues to wow us with his wonders. Praise the Lord.

Everyone go to Barnes and Noble and buy a copy and hopefully soon the Lord will help us to get it carried in every bookstore across the nation.

The Spirit of Prostitution

The Lord really spoke to me tonight about the issue of prostitution and broke my heart for the women involved. There are two groups when it comes to the issue of prostitution: the first is those who are in it voluntarily or due to financial/poverty reasons and the second are those who are forced to be in it or as slaves. The first group does it either because they think they can’t do anything better in society, like it (which is not many), financially desperate, or depressed. The second group is forced into prostitution by the sex slavery business primarily through sex trafficking and slavery. This is just a broad look of how deep it really goes. The sex trafficking business and prostitution are two in the one, not to mention the pornography business that drives it on.

I have been praying for the Lord to reveal to me his view of the prostitution industry. It is obviously an act of Immorality and Idolatry in God’s eyes; however I wanted to see the heart of the issue. I just asked the Lord to break my heart in the area that it breaks his heart and let me see how he sees it. I really felt the Lord speak to me through Hosea.

Hosea 4:10-14

10 "They will eat but not have enough;
they will engage in prostitution but not increase,
because they have deserted the LORD
to give themselves 11 to prostitution,
to old wine and new,
which take away the understanding 12 of my people.
They consult a wooden idol
and are answered by a stick of wood.
A spirit of prostitution leads them astray;
they are unfaithful to their God.

13 They sacrifice on the mountaintops
and burn offerings on the hills,
under oak, poplar and terebinth,
where the shade is pleasant.
Therefore your daughters turn to prostitution
and your daughters-in-law to adultery.

14 "I will not punish your daughters
when they turn to prostitution,
nor your daughters-in-law
when they commit adultery,
because the men themselves consort with harlots
and sacrifice with shrine prostitutes—
a people without understanding will come to ruin!

The first thing the Lord revealed to me was in verse 12, that prostitution is a spirit. That immediately took me by surprise because I have never heard of a spirit of prostitution. I hear the spirit of Jezebel a lot and I believe they are very much both evil spirits but the fact that it is distinctively stated “spirit of prostitution” caught me off guard. Anyways the spirit of prostitution is evil and profanes His holy name. We must war against it!

Secondly, in Hosea he is speaking about how much he dislikes prostitution and that the people of the land deserted Him and gave themselves to prostitution. The part that really captured my eye though was verse 14. The Lord states that when the women turn to prostitution and commit adultery he will not punish them because the men themselves consort with harlots and sacrifice with shrine prostitutes and then that “a people without understanding will come to ruin!” I don’t think that it necessarily means this, but this is what God pressed on my heart. That the men in this world need to rise up and separate themselves from godlessness and immorality (obviously this is the majority of the problem), but in order for this to take place the last part must be fulfilled. The knowledge of God must be revealed to them, the Lord states earlier in Hosea 4:6 that “There is no truth or mercy, Or knowledge of God in the land.”

“The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
“‘though seeing, they may not see;
though hearing, they may not understand. (Luke 8:10)

The knowledge of God has been revealed to us and we need that knowledge to reach those involved in the prostitution industry. Jesus is the way to that knowledge, whom the son sets free, is free indeed. We can’t set anyone free out of our own righteousness it is always Jesus working through us. Your prayers and the love of God that flows from you move angels and demons and changes things on the Earth. All authority was given to Jesus (matt 28) and he commissioned us to walk in that authority, therefore let us walk out Micah 6:8.

Facedown 40 - Pray, Vote, Obey

Hey everyone, It is a crucial time in our countries history with the upcoming elections and I am getting ready to go to Washington DC to be on the steps of the Supreme Court for the opening day and want to invite all of you to join us in prayer and fasting for this season of 4o days before the elections. I am a day late on this but feel free to jump in with us and join in fasting till nov. 2nd.

Now is the time to pray like never before. It’s time to step onto death ground with our fasting. We’ve dedicated September 24 to November 2 to be 40 days of fasting for our nation. Strategic strikes are taking place everywhere. 40 Days for Life has mobilized thousands to fast and pray at abortion clinics in 177 cities. There is opportunity for everyone to get involved right where you live

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. (Lk 18:7-8)

We want to invite you to come and stand with us at the Supreme Court in Washington, DC on October 6. This will be an all-day stand from 9 AM to 5 PM. Join us on this historic day to pray for breakthrough. America hangs in the balance, but you can make a difference.

PRO-LIFE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION

Why we must vote and pray in a Pro-Life President..... This is one of the most crucial Elections ever. We have taken a lot of ground during the Bush Administration and need to keep gaining ground. Vote Pro-Life!

1) Appointed Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. The appointments resulted in the upholding of the federal partial-birth abortion ban by a 5-4 decision.

2) Reinstituted the Mexico City Policy, begun by the Reagan Administration and reversed by the Clinton Administration (when Congress tried to reinstitute the policy, Clinton vetoed the bill), that bars foreign aid funding to groups that perform or advocate for abortions. In 2003, the Bush Administration expanded the Mexico City Policy to include not just funds dispensed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), but also the State Department.

3) Discouraged advancement of pro-abortion legislation by announcing early in his administration that he would veto legislation that threatened pro-life policy.

4) Signed the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act, which made it a federal crime not to treat babies who survive abortion.

5) Signed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban of 2003.

6) Signed Unborn Victims of Violence Act, recognizing the unborn child as a separate crime victim if injured or killed during an assault.

7) Cut off all federal funds to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for its involvement in China’s one-child policy which includes forced abortion and sterilization. President Bush sent a fact-finding mission to China which found that the nation’s one-child policy was indeed coercive in nature and that the UNFPA was an integral part of implementing that policy, placing the UNFPA in clear violation of the Kemp-Kasten Amendment that prohibits any aid to any program that involves forced abortion or forced sterilization. Tens of millions of dollars that otherwise would have gone to the UNFPA were redirected to maternal and child health programs.

8) Thwarted efforts at the United Nations to promote abortion by instructing U.S. delegates to state at every appropriate opportunity that America does not regard anything in any document before the U.N. to establish any international right to abortion.

9) Issued Executive Order banning the use of new lines of embryonic stem cells in federally funded experiments. Later vetoed legislation passed by Congress to permit federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.

10) Signed the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act of 2005, which will fund research using umbilical cord and adult stem cells. The measure provides funding to increase the inventory of cord blood units available to match and treat patients and to link cord blood banks so that doctors have a single source to search for cord blood and bone marrow matches. It also reauthorizes the National Bone Marrow Registry.

11) Launched public awareness of adoption campaign, working with the National Council for Adoption and pregnancy help centers across the country. The campaign sponsored conferences encouraging faith based communities to promote adoption and produced public service announcements featuring the First Lady urging the adoption of foster children.

12) Established the first federal government and national website listing and showing children available for adoption across the country (www.AdoptUSKids.org).

13) Increased the tax credit for adoption related expenses from $5,000 to $10,000; for special needs children, the credit was raised from $5,000 for qualified adoption related expenses to $10,000 for any adoption related expenses. This was done as part of the President’s tax relief bill.

14) Annually declared Sanctity of Human Life Day.

15) Issued a federal regulation allowing states to include unborn children in the federal/state S-CHIP program, which provides health insurance for children in poor families. This allowed states to include pre-natal care in the health insurance they offer to poor children under the program.

16) The Bush Administration did what it could to stop assisted suicide from taking further hold in Oregon. The state of Oregon passed an assisted suicide law that allows doctors to prescribe federally controlled drugs in lethal amounts to certain of their patients who say they want to die. Federal law holds that federally controlled drugs may only be prescribed for legitimate medical purposes. During the Clinton Administration, Attorney General Janet Reno decreed that assisted suicide was a legitimate medical purpose in those states that permit it.
During the Bush Administration, Attorney General John Ashcroft changed that ruling, saying that assisted suicide was not a legitimate medical purpose, thereby barring doctors from prescribing lethal drugs. A lawsuit was filed and ultimately, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing the drugs to be used for assisted suicide.

17) Signed legislation making it possible for a federal court to hear whether Terri Schiavo’s constitutional rights had been violated by being denied hydration and nutrition.

18) Dramatically increased funding for abstinence education through the Department of Health and Human Services, although Congress did not approve the full amount the Bush Administration requested.

"A Letter From Your Child"

A letter from your child,

Mommy, you are so beautiful to me. I know I never have seen you face to face but I can feel you, I know you are close. Can you feel me? I know life might be hard, I know my arrival might have been unexpected, but I still love you and I still want to be your daughter. I know I may have been conceived out of wedlock, I know I may be born into hard circumstances, I know daddy may not be around, I know you don’t feel strong sometimes, I know sometimes you don’t know what to do. Mommy knowing all this I still want you, I still want to live. Mommy you are beautiful- I love you. Mommy I know you can not hear me in your ears but mommy listen, listen quietly and you will feel me in your heart. I am here and I want to live I want to pass through the womb and there as a babe I shall cry aloud and in my cry I declare to you my love, my thank you. As I grow I will dance, I will play and with whether with you or without you I will always be thankful that you chose me and let me live. Mommy, please have pity on me I know I might be small right now but one day I will grow. I will hit a home run, I will paint a famous painting, I will go to college, I will be married, I will play the piano, I will sing, I will help those around me, I will develop cures, I will be a mother- and mommy most excitingly I will get to join your story.

The DNC in Denver....

We have been in Denver for the past 6 days doing various Pro-Life Witnessing and Prayer Events at the Democratic National Convention. A Prayer For Change incorporated a variety of events and organizations. We started it all off Saturday morning with prayer at Planned Parenthood in Denver. We placed flowers in the security fence at the Pepsi Center in memory of the 50 million babies that have been killed by abortion in the US since 1973. It was labelled "The Children's Wall" and roses were added daily.

Monday we hit the streets of Denver with informational flyers and banners about the truth of abortion and the radical views Obama supports about abortion. Sidewalk Chalk was also used to display pro-life messages on the streets and sidewalks. There was a lot of supporters and some people who were not so supportive. We attempted to talk to people and have discussions about the issue to inform and educate them on the issue of Abortion.

It all ended Wednesday night at the Westin Hotel where Senator Obama was staying as we were there with our signs and displaying pro-life messages on the sidewalk with Sidewalk Chalk. Two of our young ladies got arrested without warning for chalking on the sidewalk outside the hotel.

Well we made it here this morning around1am and I got about 4 hours of sleep by the time I fell asleep. It has been a long trip from Colorado, the booth is set up and the conference is going great. I just got back from eating at whole foods here in Birmingham and had some fruit, yogurt, and water. This Whole Foods is probably the best one I have ever been too! The house we are staying at is huge and the family is awesome. We head back to Colorado on Sunday and honestly I am not too excited about the drive back.

Car Trouble Anyone?

We stayed in KC last night on our way to Birmingham, AL and went to IHOP for a little bit. I met with a guy named Brady Toops who is putting together a compilation album called Choose Life focused around the issue of Abortion. Check it out at the myspace, http://www.myspace.com/underspokenrecords

We just checked into a hotel in Mountain Grove, MO. Come to find out we have to get a new alternator in my BMW and will have to stay overnight here. I went into the little automotive shop and asked them about an alternator for a BMW and they responded with an “oh my.” Luckily we are having one overnighted and installed in the morning.

Looks as if we will be a little late getting to Birmingham…. and humidity sucks by the way.....

I love Pat Mahoney! Pat runs the Christian Defense Coalition and they have recently released a new campain about Sen. Obama's radical views on Abortion.
